Working With Your GP

Your GP is usually the best person to help with day-to-day healthcare, prescriptions, and blood tests. GenderGP provides specialist guidance, but local support keeps your care safe and accessible.

What We Provide

  • A treatment summary with your medications, recommended tests, and monitoring schedule.

  • Guidance to help your GP understand results and adjust doses if needed.

  • Ongoing specialist support if questions or issues arise.

What GPs May Be Asked to Do

  • Prescribe medication as recommended.

  • Order and review blood tests.

  • Monitor your health and share any concerns.

What GPs Are Not Required to Do

  • Agree to everything automatically. They must feel the treatment is safe and appropriate.

  • Create a treatment plan from scratch – that's provided by GenderGP.

Guidance for Patients

  • Share your treatment summary with your GP and explain your needs.

  • Be open to discussion. Some GPs may need reassurance or time.

  • If your GP is unsure, they can ask for advice rather than saying no straight away.

Guidance for GPs

  • Review the treatment summary carefully and use your clinical judgment.

  • If you have concerns, discuss them with the patient or seek specialist input.

  • Even if you cannot prescribe, supporting with tests or monitoring is valuable.

  • You can contact us via the Doctor Contact Form.

GenderGP works alongside GPs: the specialist team provides the plan, while the GP ensures safe, local, ongoing care. Collaboration is the safest and most supportive approach.
