Many people, at some point in their gender-affirming journey, seek to officially change their gender marker on their government-issued driver’s license and passport.
While the process for changing your gender marker differs from country to country, the UK now allows you to submit a Gender Marker Letter as sufficient evidence for correction.
The letter confirms that your gender change is permanent. It can be used to support your application in place of the notoriously-difficult-to-obtain Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC).
Here at GenderGP, we now offer members and non-members the ability to purchase a Gender Marker Letter, either through a session or as an add-on through the Treatment Recommendation form. When you book and complete a Gender Marker Consultation Session, the letter will be sent to you as a likely outcome of the session. The cost of the session is either £55 (if you want an electronic signature) or £75 (if you want a wet signature, in which case, we will need to post the letter to you).
Our letter is written and signed by an EU clinician accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). While the letter is likely to be accepted and is in most cases, please bear in mind that the Passport Office personnel in charge of reviewing your application – not us – exercises power over whether or not the letter is accepted.
