Ovestin administration

Ovestin 0.1% intravaginal cream is used to alleviate the symptoms of vaginal atrophy. It contains estriol, which is a form of oestrogen. Ovestin cream is applied directly into the vagina and is absorbed locally, providing oestrogen to the vaginal tissues.

Preparation

Before using Ovestin cream, read the medication label and any accompanying information leaflet.

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.


Administration Technique

  1. Attach the applicator to the tube of Ovestin cream and fill it with the prescribed amount of cream.
  2. Lie on your back with your knees bent or stand with one foot elevated on a stool or chair.
  3. Gently insert the applicator into the vagina as far as it will comfortably go.
  4. Press the plunger to release the cream into the vagina.
  5. Remove the applicator and discard it properly.
  6. Wash your hands thoroughly again after administration.

Post-Administration Care

After using Ovestin cream, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
