Provera (Medroxyprogesterone Acetate) supports hormonal balance and affirming gender identity for trans women and nonbinary people.
How to take Provera
- Swallow the tablets whole with a full glass of water.
- Do not crush, chew, or break the tablets.
- You can take medroxyprogesterone with or without food. If you experience stomach upset, taking the tablets with food may help alleviate the symptoms.
- If you are taking medroxyprogesterone once a day, try to take it at the same time every day. This helps keep your medication levels consistent and helps you remember to take it.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose at the usual time.
- If you miss a dose, you may experience some breakthrough bleeding or spotting of blood from your vagina. This is normal and should resolve on its own.
- If you often forget to take your medication, consider setting an alarm on your phone or using a pill dispenser to help you remember.
- Speak to your pharmacist for other ways to help remember to take your medicine.
