Obtaining Letters and Reports Through GenderGP

Obtaining Letters and Reports Through GenderGP

What type of letters can I receive as a member or non-member?

Some letters are available only to members while others are also available for non-members. We provide letters drafted from established templates that can include a summary of your situation and current care details.

All generic letters are signed by GenderGP, ensuring they carry the professional backing of our organisation. The Blood Test Referral Letter costs £20 and the Travelling with Medication Letter costs £30. The Gender Marker Letter requires a session beforehand and costs £55 for an electronic signature or £75 for a wet signature (sent to you via post).
  1. Blood Test Referral Letter – This letter advises a GP that you're receiving gender-affirming care advice through our service and, for your safety, require the completion of blood tests (with the ones you'd like ticked on the form).
  2. Travelling with Medication Letter – This letter confirms the validity of your prescription if you face any questions from customs during travel.
  3. Gender Marker Letter – This letter is designed to support your application for changing your name or pronouns on legal documents such as your passport or driver's license.
Eligibility for the Letters

To be eligible for the Blood Test Request letter and the Travelling with Medication letter, you need to be an active member of the service, having gone through the Appraisal Pathway process, including an Information Gathering Session or other consent session. These steps ensure that your transition journey is well-documented and understood by the team.

However, because the Gender Marker Letter requires a session before you receive the document, informed consent is established during the session. This means both GenderGP members and non-members are eligible for this letter.

How to Request the Letter

You can request your Travelling with Medication Letter or Blood Test Referral Letter through the Treatment Recommendation request form on the GenderGP website. The process is streamlined for ease and convenience. Simply tick the box for the letter you want to purchase before you submit the form.

To request the Gender Marker Letter, you'll need to book a Gender Marker Consultation session. The letter will be given to you at the end of the session. It's available to everyone; you don't need to be a member to book a session for a Gender Marker Letter.

Limitations and Disclaimers

Our letters are professionally drafted and are generally accepted by healthcare providers and institutions. However, while GenderGP aims to provide comprehensive support letters, we can't guarantee that all authorities will accept them. Requirements can vary significantly between different authorities, and even among individuals working within those authorities.

Requesting a Tailored Letter

If you require a letter that's tailored to your unique circumstances, or that is signed by a named specialist, you can request this following a personal consultation. You would need to book an appointment with one of our specialists to discuss your specific case and make sure all the relevant details are included.

Tailored letters are signed by the specialist you consult with. This ensures that the letter reflects a personalised assessment and recommendation based on your specific needs.
You can book an appointment through the GenderGP website or by contacting one of our team to help you book your session with a suitable specialist.
